ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY APTITUDE TEST (UCAT):

The University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) is an admissions test, used by a consortium of UK and International Universities to help select applicants for their medical and dental degree programmes.It is used in collaboration with other admissions processes such as the UCAS application and academic qualifications. It is also your opportunity to stand out from other applicants and demonstrate your aptitude for a demanding programme of study.The UCAT is a computer-based test, delivered in Pearson VUE test centres throughout the UK and worldwide.

Understanding the UCAT:

The UCAT, formerly known as the UKCAT, is a specialized aptitude test designed for students seeking admission to medical and dental programs in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and select international institutions. It assesses cognitive abilities, problem-solving skills, and attributes essential for success in medical studies.

Tests taken outside the UK fees is £115/AED530.

Registration:

New candidates must register for a UCAT account before they can book a test on the official website.

Returning candidates should use their existing account, as multiple accounts are not permitted.You should book your test through your UCAT Account.You are strongly recommended to book a test date early in the test cycle.

It can take up to 1 business day for Pearson VUE to set up your account. Delays to account registration will not be accepted as a mitigating circumstance for missing the booking deadline.

UCAT TEST FORMAT:

The UCAT consists of five main subtests-

Verbal Reasoning: Assess your ability to critically evaluate information presented in written form.

Decision Making: Evaluate your skills in interpreting and analyzing complex information to make logical decisions.

Quantitative Reasoning: Measure your aptitude for numerical analysis, problem-solving, and data interpretation.

Abstract Reasoning: Test your ability to identify patterns, relationships, and logical connections in abstract information.

Situational Judgment: Assess your understanding of ethical and professional situations, and your ability to make appropriate decisions.

    SCORING AND REPORTING:

    The UCAT is scored in each subtest on a scale of 300 to 900. Your scores in each subtest are combined to provide an overall UCAT score. The score report also includes percentiles, indicating how your performance compares to other candidates.

    Competitive Scores:

    Competitive UCAT scores that increase your chances of admission to highly sought-after medical schools often fall in the range of 670-700 or higher for each subtest. Total scores exceeding 2700 are generally considered competitive.
